Osmosis Strategy: Seed Cards and Rank Chains
Osmosis has a unique mechanic where the first card to a foundation pile determines the suit for that entire pile. The other three foundations must start with the same rank, and you build off them in chains. It's a game of timing and resource management.
Watch the Seed Card Carefully
The 17th card dealt becomes the seed — it determines which suit goes on foundation[0]. This is the only foundation you can play that suit to freely. Once you know the seed suit, you know exactly which cards can anchor each chain.
Start the Other Three Foundations Early
The three non-seed foundations must start with a card of the same rank as the seed. The moment you see that rank appear in the waste or reserve, try to claim a foundation spot. The game becomes much easier once all four foundations are active.
Use Reserve Cards Before the Stock Dries Up
The four reserve piles are your buffer. Only the top card is playable, so use reserve cards strategically — don't let them sit too long. Reserve cards are also your way to feed specific ranks to the foundations when you need them.
Stock Management Matters
You get unlimited redeals from the stock, but each deal of three cards shifts the ordering. Try to deal when you need a specific rank or when the waste has a card you can build off. Don't just deal mechanically — make it part of your strategy.
