About Aces and Kings

Aces and Kings is a two-deck solitaire game where foundations build in both directions: some start with aces and others start with kings. You need to manage both paths at the same time.

The challenge is balancing exposed cards and reserve space. Avoid spending useful middle cards too early because they often connect foundations that are growing from opposite ends.

How to Play

Goal

Move all cards to the 8 foundation piles. The first 4 foundations build UP from Ace to King. The last 4 foundations build DOWN from King to Ace.

Uses two decks (104 cards)

How to Win

You win when all 104 cards are sorted into the eight foundations!

The Two Types of Foundations

  • Ace Foundations (4 piles): Build UP from Ace to King (A-2-3-...-K)
  • King Foundations (4 piles): Build DOWN from King to Ace (K-Q-J-...-A)

All foundations must follow the suit of the first card placed.

Setup

  • 8 foundation piles (4 Ace-up, 4 King-down)
  • 4 tableau columns (1 card each)
  • 2 reserve piles (face-up)
  • Stock pile with remaining cards

Tableau

The 4 tableau columns can each hold ONE card only. Cards can be moved from tableau to foundations.

Reserves

The 2 reserve piles show all cards face-up. Only the top card of each reserve can be played.

Stock

Click the stock to deal one card. The top waste card can be played to foundations or tableau. No reshuffling - when the stock is empty, the game is over.

Moving Between Foundations

You can move the top card of any foundation to another foundation if it follows the building rules. This is often necessary to free up cards!
