Eight Off

About Eight Off

Eight Off is a FreeCell-style solitaire game with eight reserve cells instead of four. You build foundations by suit while arranging tableau cards downward in the same suit.

The extra cells give you more room, but same-suit building makes each move more restrictive. Use the cells to unlock planned sequences rather than as a place to park every inconvenient card.

Compared with FreeCell, Eight Off feels more orderly and less flexible because suit discipline matters throughout the tableau. Baker's Game is a close cousin if you want a similar challenge with tighter storage.

How to Play

Goal

Move all 52 cards to the foundations, building each pile from Ace to King by suit.

How to Win

Win by getting all 52 cards onto the foundation piles, each built up by suit from Ace to King.

Reserve Cells

Eight Off comes with 8 reserve cells—4 are already filled when the game starts. Use these cells to temporarily hold cards while you organize the tableau. The more empty cells you have, the more flexibility you have for maneuvering.

How to Play

  • Build tableau piles down by the same suit only (6♠ on 7♠)
  • Move Aces to foundations, then build up by suit to Kings
  • Move any single card to an empty free cell
  • Move cards from free cells back to tableau or foundations

Moving Cards

Unlike FreeCell, Eight Off only moves one card at a time. With N empty free cells available, you can move up to (N+1) cards by using the free cells as temporary holding spots.

With 4 empty free cells: move up to 5 cards in a sequence!

Quick Moves

Double-click a card to auto-move it to the best available spot: foundations first, then tableau, then free cells.

What Makes Eight Off Different

Eight Off starts with 8 free cells (4 pre-filled) versus FreeCell's 4 empty cells. The key difference: Eight Off requires building tableau piles by the SAME SUIT, making it a different puzzle experience. You can also only move one card at a time, not sequences.
