About Golf Solitaire

Golf Solitaire is a quick solitaire game where you clear seven tableau columns by playing exposed cards onto the waste pile. A card can be played when it is one rank higher or one rank lower than the waste card, regardless of suit.

It feels related to TriPeaks, but the layout is simpler and the rules are stricter: this version does not wrap between King and Ace, and there is no redeal from the stock. That makes timing your stock draws and preserving flexible ranks important.

Look for plays that keep a run going, and be careful about exposing cards that lead straight into a King unless you have a clear follow-up. The goal is to leave as few tableau cards as possible.

How to Play

Goal

Clear all 35 tableau cards by playing exposed cards onto the waste pile. If you cannot clear the board, try to leave as few tableau cards as possible.

Setup

The game starts with 7 columns of 5 face-up cards. One card starts the waste pile, and the remaining 16 cards form the stock.

Playing Cards

Only the bottom card of each column is available. Play it onto the waste pile if its rank is exactly one higher or one lower than the waste card.

  • Suits do not matter.
  • Strict Golf does not wrap: Aces and Kings cannot be played on each other, and nothing can be played on a King.
  • When no useful tableau move is available, draw one card from the stock. There is no redeal.

Scoring

Your golf score is the number of tableau cards left. If you clear the tableau, unused stock cards count below zero, so lower is better.
