Golf Solitaire rewards short-term tactics and careful stock timing. You cannot control the deal, but you can improve your score by preserving flexible ranks and avoiding dead ends.
Choose the Move That Opens the Most Options
When two exposed cards are playable, prefer the move that reveals a useful follow-up or creates access to a middle rank. Middle ranks often connect in both directions, while Aces and Queens can be easier to trap.
Do Not Rush to Draw From the Stock
The stock is your timer. Before drawing, scan every exposed card and look for alternate chains. A single extra tableau play before a draw can be the difference between clearing the board and leaving several cards.
Treat Kings as Stop Cards
Strict Golf does not let anything play on a King, so a King on the waste usually forces a stock draw. Try not to expose or play into Kings unless the move clears a column or you have no better path.
Use Runs to Control the Board
Long runs are valuable because they remove cards without spending stock. When possible, steer a run toward columns with more cards left, not just the first playable card you see.
