Crescent rewards patient planning. Every move changes which card is exposed, and every reshuffle rotates all sixteen piles, so the best play balances immediate foundation progress with access to buried cards.
Scan All Sixteen Piles First
Before moving anything, look for every card that can reach a foundation and every same-suit connection between pile tops. A broad scan prevents a quick move from hiding a stronger sequence elsewhere.
Build Both Foundation Directions
Do not focus only on the Ace-up foundations. Feed the King-down foundations as well, especially when doing so exposes a useful card. Balanced progress gives each rank more possible destinations.
Prefer Moves That Expose Useful Cards
A legal tableau move is valuable when the newly exposed card can move again or unlock a foundation. Avoid shifting cards merely because you can; empty piles are permanent and cannot be refilled.
Treat Reshuffles as Planned Rotations
A reshuffle brings each pile's bottom card to the top rather than randomizing the deal. Note important buried cards and use a reshuffle only after extracting as much value as possible from the current top cards.
Use Undo to Compare Move Orders
When two moves compete for the same destination, try the line that exposes the most promising card. Undo lets you compare the alternatives before spending a reshuffle or creating a permanent empty pile.
